SONNY BOY WILLIAMSON
KWEM 1948-1950

In 1948, Williamson joined his brother-in-law, Howlin’ Wolf, at KWEM radio and also played nightly at the many joints scattered around West Memphis and the Arkansas Delta. Later that year, he let a young kid perform on his radio program. The break would lead to stardom for the youngster that the world now knows as B.B. King. Sonny Boy himself left KWEM to become one of the most influential Blues players in history. Williamson recorded albums for Trumpet Records, Checker Records, and Ace Records.
