JUNIOR PARKER
KWEM 1949-1952
Junior Parker not only had his own show on KWEM but also made his first record at KWEM with Ike Turner. He was then discovered by Sam Phillips and recorded on the SUN label. One of his hit records was “Mystery Train,” which would be rerecorded a year later by another KWEM star, Elvis Presley. Parker recorded for various labels, including Mercury, Blue Rock, Minit, and Capitol. He is a member of the Blues Hall of Fame.
